My Experience with Magicshine Lights

Racing endurance 24 hour mountain bike events, along with being a husband and father I need a off-road capable light that can, perform for both training and racing. Much of my training, even during the long summer days is done in the darkness.  Races have included late autumn and winter 24 hour events such as Strathpuffer , Relentless and Kielder Chiller, where you are looking at up to 18 hours riding in the dark.
I have used Magicshine lights for the past few years, with the MJ-900 and MJ-906, both have served me well through training  and racing.  I recently acquired the Magicshine Monteer 6500 — this light is truly awesome.

The Monteer 6500 gives out a massive 6500 lumens on full. It is of solid construction and uses a Garmin style mount which makes it versatile to mount either on the bars or helmet. You can choose between Flood, Spot or Hybrid beam. Hybrid being the brightest, using all of the 5 CREE LEDs. On full you can get about 1hour 15 mins of use, but to be honest you rarely need it on full power, 25% or even 10% is fine for riding between trails, and you can then ramp it up to 50 or 100 % and enjoy the descents as if it was still day. On hybrid mode with 25 % beam you get around 5 hours of use. For longer rides or endurance races battery packs are easily and quickly changed. I prefer having a separate battery pack, rather than fiddling around with single cells in the cold and dark. The battery packs charge in a few hours using the supplied transformer.

The Monteer 6500 CREE LEDs and optical lens are specially and carefully designed, to bring a beam pattern for Spot beam, Flood beam and    Hybrid. To ensure it performs reliably in  extreme conditions the heat sink, and hard anodized all   aluminium housing have been designed to ensure a higher cooling performance to prevent           overheating.

Whether you are a competing on the world stage or just a casual rider looking to keep riding when the sun goes down, the Magishine Monteer 6500 is a first class choice.

With the Monteer 6500 you really can see more do  better’.
